Daytona24: Farnbacher Loles Racing hour 12 notes

Farnbacher Loles Racing continued to lead the GT class during the second quarter of the Rolex 24 At Daytona. Matthew Marsh and Kevin Roush both led in the No. 86 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car and held the class lead at the halfway mark of the 24-hour race.

Their teammates in the No. 88 Porsche were sixth in class after 12 hours. The No. 87 Porsche continued to work back through the field to 11th after replacing the car's driveshaft early in the race, but were slowed by a broken shifter cable. The No. 89 Porsche was 19th.

At half-distance, the No. 85 Porsche was in the garage for repairs, including a new left radiator, lower control arm, bumper and front splitter. The No. 64 JLowe Racing Porsche, driven by Jim Lowe, Jim Pace, Tim Sugden and Johannes van Overbeek, retired from the race after 8.5 hours with a broken driveshaft.

Matthew Marsh, No. 86: "It's 11 hours in, but it's totally irrelevant. In a 24-hour race, the race hasn't even started. Everything we were told before the race is that we don't race until Sunday and it isn't Sunday yet. So we're just cruising around looking after the car as best we can, which is not that easy because there is a bunch of other guys going racing already. I've done enough 24-hour races to know that all sorts of naughty things happen when you least expect them, and very often in the last hour."

Leh Keen, No. 87: "It's a bummer that we had the problem because the car is so good. Without the axle issue, we'd be in great shape right now. Everybody's been doing a really good job; the crew has nailed every pitstop perfectly. Other than the one little problem that hurt us, we're just trying to motor along back into it and see if we can get a little bit of luck, a top-10 finish and some points for the season."

Dave Lacey, No. 88: "It's a bit of a strange year because halfway comes a couple of hours later than it normally would [because the race started two hours later]. The car mechanically is very strong. We're looking forward to the morning and a very long Sunday. We'll take care of the equipment and hope things go our way. We're in a great spot right now. A top-10 finish is good, a top-five is better than that and, of course, the podium is what we're going for."
