Farnbacher Loles Racing led the GT class for most of the first six hours of the Rolex 24 At Daytona on Saturday. Dominik Farnbacher, Matthew Marsh and Kevin Roush all led in the No. 86 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car, alternating the lead with their teammates Leh Keen and Wolf Henzler in the No. 87 Porsche. The No. 85 and No. 88 Porsches maintained a top-10 pace through the first quarter of the 24-hour race.
The JLowe Racing drivers weren't as lucky in the No. 64 Porsche. They encountered problems caused by an electronic sensor that resulted in a major oil leak and a long pitstop for repairs. They got back on track, but were in the garage with a broken driveshaft at the six-hour mark. The No. 89 Porsche crew also spent time in the garage, replacing the car's clutch and driveshaft.
Kevin Roush, No. 86: "We tried a strategy break to pit out of sequence and change just a couple of tires. We let that play out and had a good battle with the 87 car. It's nice to race hard, but not too hard, with somebody you can trust."
Dominik Farnbacher, No. 86 and 87: "I had a really good start, I could rush through the field because our car was just incredible! I was in the lead within 12 laps. The team is just incredible, the pitstops are perfect and my teammates make no mistakes. They run like a Rolex watch."
Dave Lacey, No. 88: "The car is great. We're very lucky to have such a mechanically strong car at this stage of the race. The gearbox is terrific, the brakes are rock-hard. The pace is so fast! We're playing a consistency game, not getting in trouble and just staying away from any damage. That seems to be paying off so far."
