2001 SRPII Champion Added to Momentum Motorcars Picchio Lineup

2001 SportsRacing Prototype II driver champion Andy Lally has been added to the driver lineup of the #07 Momentum Motorcars BMW-powered Picchio. Lally was selected as a co-driver in the Momentum Motorcars Picchio after G&W Motorsports held driver auditions and test sessions at Virginia International Raceway last week.

"I am thrilled to be added to the G&W driver lineup! I was very impressed with the drivability and grip that the car was able to make at VIR last week," Lally said. "We are still in the very early stages of development with the car, and although it will be a tough battle this year, the car is showing a lot of promise from the get go and I know these guys can make the most of it."

Lally will join another 2001 driver champion in the Momentum Motorcars Picchio. GT champion Darren Law has moved up into the SRPII class for the 2002 season. The pair of champions will share driving duties with Armando Trentini at this weekend's Nextel 250 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Veteran road racer Boris Said was testing in Southern California yesterday when he received a phone call from his old friend Jim Bell asking if he wanted to go racing this weekend. Said hopped on a redeye last night and landed in Miami this morning in order join Ron Atapatu in the #54 Bell Motorsports BMW M3 this weekend. Bell captured his first victory with the #54 BMW at last year's Nextel 250 and hopes to defend his title this weekend in the GT class. Bell is a resident of nearby Tavernier, Fla., and would like to not only see his team defend its GT title, but also do it on his home track.
