MIAMI (April 11, 2000) - To celebrate the revival of the Paul Revere 250, one of the most famous races in motorsports history, DAYTONA USA, "The Ultimate Motorsports Attraction," will offer $150,000 in bonus money to teams competing in three upcoming Grand American Road Racing events, including the May 5-7 Grand-Am Miami 250 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
The DAYTONA USA Triple Challenge begins April 22 with the Phoenix 200, and culminates with the return of the historic Paul Revere 250 to Daytona International Speedway on June 29, during the Pepsi 400 weekend.
"This is unprecedented bonus money for sports car racing," said Curtis Gray, President of Homestead-Miami Speedway. "We’re excited in the level of interest already being shown in this new series. The Grand-Am has demonstrated a solid foundation, and we are confident it will continue to grow for many years to come."
"We’re looking forward to our first race in the vibrant Miami market," said Grand-Am President Roger Edmondson. "DAYTONA USA's involvement will surely help us to continue on the rich heritage of sports car racing in South Florida, at one of the nation’s most beautiful racing facilities."
The "DAYTONA USA Triple Challenge" will award 20 eligible teams for their performance in the remaining Grand-Am events held at road course / oval combination tracks. The "DAYTONA USA Triple Challenge" awards the top ten eligible teams from the SportsRacer and GT categories a $7,500 bonus, based upon points earned at the three "roval" events. To be eligible, a team must participate in all three events and the team owner must be a member of the Team Owner Program.
Tickets for the Miami debut of the Grand-American Miami 250 begin at $5 for an unreserved Friday grandstand seat and $10 for Saturday. Sunday grandstand seats cost $15, with weekend paddock passes $20. Weekend grandstand/paddock tickets cost $40 if purchased by April 28. Children 12 and under are free in both the grandstand and paddock when accompanied by a paid adult.
