April 12, 2001-Miracle Motorsports is thrilled to announce their plans to campaign the remainder of the Grand American Road Racing Series. John Macaluso (Winter Haven, FL) and Brent Sherman (Barrington, IL) will pair up to pilot the Miracle Motorsports/Serta Mattress #6 SRP entry.

Miracle Motorsports acquired the Lozano powered Riley and Scott after a merger between Miracle Motorsports and TRP Racing fell through. TRP ran the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona earlier this season. After suffering an incident on the track where the car flipped, it resulted in the car being dubbed useless. At that point, Miracle Motorsports and TRP Racing began talks of a merger involving the purchase of a new car to run in the Grand Am Series. TRP Racing then closed their doors, making all equipment and the new SRP entry available to John Macaluso and Miracle Motorsports. Miracle Motorsports then stepped up to the plate, purchased the car and equipment and will debut the #6 entry in Phoenix.

John Macaluso will bring Miracle Auto Dealerships sponsorship to the team. Macaluso began his racing career in 1977 by running club events. By 1983, he was running professionally in Formula Atlantics and Can Am events, and by the early 90's, he was running in the esteemed IMSA Camel Lights Series. John then ran in the World Sports Car Series with teams such as Scandia Racing and Brown Motorsports. Macaluso campaigned, most recently, in the BFGoodrich Tires Trans-Am Series in 2000.

Brent Sherman will co-drive the Miracle Motorsports Riley and Scott SRP entry. Sherman brings Serta Mattress sponsorship to the team. Mattress Outlet, the largest Nation wide dealer of Serta Mattresses, will co-sponsor Sherman and the Miracle Motorsports entry. Sherman was initially slated to run the entire Grand Am season with TRP Racing, however, he will now run the season with Miracle Motorsports. Brent comes to the team with an impressive competitive background. He began his racing career by winning the 1997 Russell Racing School Graduate Championship. He then ran a 2-year stint in the Barber Dodge Pro Series, consistently finishing in the top 10 throughout the 1999 and 2000 seasons. He also drove TRP Racing's Lola-Nissan to a second place finish at last years Nextel 250 Grand Am event in Homestead, FL.

Prep on the new car has been completed by Mike Gue of Essex Racing and Bruce Holley. Veteran racer, Ross Bentley, will be on hand in Phoenix to study the new car and will then co-drive at the Six Hours of the Glen, Watkins Glen, NY, May 20, 2001.

The Sun Automotive 200 will commence at 7pm Pacific Time, April 21, 2001, at the Phoenix International Raceway. The race will be aired live on Speedvision. Visit our website www.miraclemotorsports.com for continual updates and race results.
