DUBLIN, Ohio - 31 May, 2000 - InterSport Racing will debut its brand new Lola B2K/10 at the Paul Revere 250 at Daytona International Speedway, Florida on June 26 - Round 6 of the Grand American Road Racing Association season. Powered by a Judd V10 engine, the team expects it to be a highly competitive car in both the Grand Am and the American Le Mans Series, where InterSport Racing also competes.
The car will replace the existing Lola B98/10 that the team has campaigned for the past two seasons. Launched earlier this year, the radical new chassis from U.K.-based Lola Cars shows substantial advances over its predecessor in all significant areas. With its carbon composite monocoque and body, the car has exceptional structural integrity and aerodynamic improvements make it 33% more efficient than the B98/10. A three-fold improvement in cooling airflow also improves engine performance and reliability.
Derived from a Formula 1 engine, the Judd GV4 V10 produces about 630 hp at 11,000 rpm. The compact, lightweight four-liter, four-valve aluminum alloy powerplant is one of the most sophisticated in sports car racing and, with its excellent fuel mileage, is starting to become the engine of choice for teams looking to run up front. Jon Field and Rick Sutherland will be the primary drivers for InterSport Racing in the American Le Mans Series. For Grand American Road Racing Association events the team will shortly be naming Field’s co-driver.
The primary sponsorship will be from Banana Joe’s, a national chain of sports bars with the look and feel of Key West and the Caribbean Islands.
