O'Connell Racing to Joint Venture with GAS Motorsport for 2008 Rolex Season
ORANGE COUNTY, CA. -- January 22nd, 2008 -- O'Connell Racing (OConnellRacing.com), a southern California based Grand-Am Rolex Series and NASCAR road racing team announced today that it has entered into a joint venture and business services agreement with GAS Motorsport and winning IMSA and Porsche Cup Challenge driver and GAS owner Kevin Roush for the 2008 Grand-Am Rolex series season. GAS Motorsport is a specialty Porsche preparation shop located in southern California and operated by Mssr. Roush. Kevin O'Connell stated, "Kevin Roush has shown that he is a very capable driver and the relationship with his group has grown from the 2007 Rolex 24 at Daytona into a close team of professionals that want to race together and have previously had success in other series. The evolving relationship with GAS removes some of the pressing challenges for us in manging the Rolex Series program concurrently with our NASCAR road racing effort."
As part of the overall agreement, Kevin Roush will be O'Connell's co-driver in the Rolex Series and designated spotter for the NASCAR Nationwide Series races. Kevin Roush commented, "First of all, I'm very excited about GAS Motorsport teaming-up with O'Connell Racing at many of the crown events for the 2008 Rolex Series season. Together we have a dedicated team of core people that work as hard as anyone in the paddock and all know how to win. I look forward to competing against the best in the sports car racing world and hope to challenge for podium finishes, starting with the Rolex 24. This years event clearly has the finest group of GT drivers ever assembled. O'Connell Racing has put together all the ingredients for a very competitive effort and I am stoked to be a part of it! This will be my third Rolex 24 so I am hoping it's a charm."
