Daytona, FL January 29, 2001 The Porsche Boxster is finally ready to make its professional racing debut in the Motorola Cup North American Street Stock Championship. The Motorola Cup begins and ends its 2001 season as a supporting race for the Rolex 24 hours of Daytona on February 2, 2001. David Tuaty (28) of Miami, Florida will pilot the newest racing Porsche throughout the ten race season.

Putting this drive together has taken considerable time and effort on David's part. Last season, David campaigned a VW Golf GTI in the Florida Region SCCA ITB class. David won the Endurance Championship in 1998 and captured 8 out of 9 Pole Positions on his way to 2nd in the Southeast Division Endurance Championship Racing Series. He has continued his rapid development as he pursues his goal of driving for a factory racing team. David was the lead - driving instructor at the TrackSpeed International driving school while also providing driving instruction on an individual basis.

David is ecstatic about the prospects of joining the rich racing tradition of Porsche. "It's always been a dream of mine to race a Porsche at Daytona. To be a part of that history and to bring the Boxster to professional racing at Daytona is a tremendous honor for me."

Tuaty will be racing the Boxster in the Sport Touring class, arguably the most competitive in the four class series. Tuaty and co -driver Mark Underwood are expecting excellent results from their SpeedSource prepared Porsche Boxster. In testing here at Daytona earlier in the month the team was less than half a second off the pace of the fastest Sport Touring competitor. Since those initial tests the team has completed more development work on the car which they believe will put them at the head of the Sport Touring pack.

Primary sponsorship is next on the agenda for David. "To run a professional series like this represents a significant investment of resources, so we have put together a sponsor package that will bring a lot of value to a partner/sponsor; more than just a simple decal on a car. We provide a fantastic marketing platform...and the fact that it's a Porsche doesn't hurt." Current sponsors include Makes and Models Magazine (www.makesandmodelsmagazine.com), a monthly magazine with over 10,000 readers. Also ESR Graphics, who has been a personal sponsor of David's for the past five seasons.

The Motorola Cup will run its last race under that name when the season kicks off at Daytona International Speedway as part of the Rolex 24 At Daytona weekend Feb. 1 -4. The series will continue on for the remainder of the season with a new name - The Grand -Am Cup. A schedule of 10 races is planned. All major manufacturers are represented in the series. Over 85 makes and models compete in four separate classes, racing on track at the same time. The series awards driver, team and manufacturer championships in each of the four classes raced.

David Tuaty and his Porsche Boxster are available for car & driver displays, corporate promotions, driving instruction and interviews.
