Rolex 24 at Daytona hour one wrap up
Pole winner James Weaver held the lead after the first hour of the 39th annual Rolex 24 At Daytona, leading a furious battle which saw five lead changes. Eighty drivers took the command to start their engines from Grand Marshal Jackie Stewart.

Eighty drivers took the command to start their engines from Grand Marshal Jackie Stewart. Fourth place starter Jon Field led the opening lap, with Weaver, Ralf Kelleners and Jack Baldwin all taking turns out front in the opening 30 minutes, After one hour, Weaver led Field, Kellemers, Scott Schubot and Elliott Forbes-Robinson. Bob Woodman held the lead in SRP II, driving the Porsche Haus Racing Nissan Lola, with early leader Jeff Bucknum falling back with overheating problems. Scott Maxwell led the GTS class throughout the opening hour in the Bytzek Motorsport Porsche GT1, with Gunnar Jeannette’s Porsche – with a driver lineup including Paul Newman – pitting several times with mechanical problems. Boris Said led GT in an eight-cylinder BMW M-3, while Joe Varde set the early pace in AGT in a Corvette.
