DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Dec. 21, 2001) - Grand American Road Racing announced today that it has reached an agreement with the Speed Channel to broadcast 2002 Grand-Am Cup Street Stock Series races. Eleven Grand-Am Cup races will be aired on Speed Channel as one-hour highlight shows.

Grand-Am Cup races will be broadcast on Saturdays at 5 p.m. ET, with the season-opener at Daytona scheduled to air on February 16, 2002. Other Grand-Am Cup races scheduled to air on Speed Channel include events at California Speedway, Phoenix International Raceway, Watkins Glen International, Virginia International Raceway, Le Circuit Mont-Tremblant, and the season finale back in Daytona.

"Speed Channel is happy to extend its coverage of the Grand American Road Racing Association to include the Grand-Am Cup Street Stock Series," Speed Channel President Jim Liberatore said. "We feel that Grand-Am Cup will be a great addition to our road racing lineup."

Both Grand American and Speed Channel hope the consistent programming time slot of Saturday evenings at 5 p.m. will make it easier for road racing fans to tune into the races. Grand American will have 18 weeks of Saturday evening programming during the season, with Rolex Sports Car Series races airing on the remaining 10 dates.

"Grand-Am Cup was a great addition to Grand American Road Racing in 2001, and we are excited to add it to our Speed Channel programming in 2002," Grand American President Roger Edmondson said. "The consistent Saturday evening time slot will also improve the visibility of Grand-Am Cup. Road racing fans will no longer have to search for the times of races. They will know that they can catch a race on Speed Channel on Saturday at 5 p.m."

Speed Channel will replace the current Speedvision cable network on February 11, 2002. Speed Channel is the only 24-hour cable network devoted to the millions of people who love cars, boats, airplanes and motorcycles. The network features authentic coverage of major events, in addition to the latest industry and consumer news.

The Grand-Am Cup 2002 season will kickoff at Daytona International Raceway on Friday, Feb. 1, with a two-hour race as part of the Rolex 24 At Daytona event weekend. Tickets are currently on sale for the event and may be purchased online at www.daytonainternationalspeedway.com or by calling the Speedway ticket office at 386-253-RACE.
