AL CARTER AND HUGH PLUMB MOVE TO SECOND IN THE 2012 CHAMPIONSHIP AFTER B+ HEROES 200 PRESENTED BY BCKSTGR!
Al Carter and Hugh Plumb had a great week in New Jersey for The B+ Heroes 200 presented by BCKSTGR. The two B+ racers wanted to stand on the highest place of the podium but had to settle with a 5th place finish. This is the third top-five result in four races for Carter and Plumb this season. The 45 B+ Foundation - Jetset Magazine Fall-Line Motorsports team moved up one championship spot in New Jersey and is now ranked second in the 2012 Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge point standings.
The B+ Heroes 200 presented by BCKSTGR was an excellent event for the entire Fall-Line Motorsports team. The Fall-Line team is now 1st and 2nd in the team and driver championships and leads all the BMW racing teams entered in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge series. Charles Putman and Charles Espenlaub are leading the championship with 115 points after 4 races and their teammates Al Carter and Hugh Plumb are ranked second with 107 points.
On Saturday the 45 was the fastest of the three Fall-Line Motorsports BMWs in qualifying. Al Carter driving the 45 B+ Foundation - Jetset Magazine M3 qualified 5th and started from the third row. The 45 car of Carter and Plumb almost won the race in 2011 and wanted to win this year since their B+ Foundation partner invited over 100 guests at their own home race, The B+ Foundation Heroes 200 presented by BCKSTGR.
Unfortunately everything did not happen as they wanted. On lap 17 while running in 3rd place, Al Carter received a first stop and go penalty for initiating a pass before the start finish line and after stopping to serve his penalty the 45 car went to 18th. On lap 48 while running 6th, Carter received another stop and go for avoidable contact and this time went from 6th on track to 29th. Carter pitted on lap 45 and handed the car to Hugh Plumb. Plumb had an outstanding race. He went from 36th place to 5th in the last 25 laps of the race proving once again his determination to win the 2012 championship and his unbelievable driving talent.
The Wednesday before the race, The B+ Foundation organized a very exciting program in Wilmington, Delaware where they are headquartered. Just before noon Al Carter and Hugh Plumb drove two of the Fall-Line BMW M3s to St Elizabeth's High School and met with teenager Joey Farrell who is battling cancer. Al Carter invited Joey to ride with him on the passenger seat of one of his BMW racecars and the two started their run escorted by the local Wilmington Police, with Hugh Plumb driving the 45 B+ Foundation - Jetset Magazine M3 behind them. In less than 15 minutes the two B+ BMW cars arrived at the Nemours Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children where a ceremony was organized on the parking lot as well as a visit of the oncology unit of the hospital by Carter and Plumb.

I. duPont Hospital for Children welcomed Delaware State Representative Greg Lavelle, Joe McDonough, founder of The B+ Foundation, Paul Gustafson, COO of BCKSTGR, Mark Boden, team owner and driver of Fall-Line Motorsports, Al Carter and Hugh Plumb at his hospital for a ceremony.
Paul Gustafson presented a $5,000 check on behalf of BCKSTGR to The B+ Foundation and sponsored two of the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children patients, Joey Farrell and Nathan Silpath to the B+ Heroes 200 presented by BCKSTGR at New Jersey Motorsports Park. BMW of North America participated in this event and donated pedal cars for the pleasure of some of the children.
On race day, Nathan Silpath and Joey Farrell came to the track and had a great day. After being applauded at the driver's meeting led by Mark Raffauf by all the drivers, team managers and officials of the Grand-Am Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge, Nathan was able to wave the green flag of The B+ Heroes 200 presented by BCKSTGR. At the end of the race, it was Joey's turn to assist in waving the checkered flag.
The B+ heroes had a fabulous day at New Jersey Motorsports Park. Thanks to Fall-Line Motorsports, Grand-Am officials, BCKSTGR and B+ Foundation teams that did everything they could to put a smile on the B+ heroes' faces, that race day will be remembered for a long time.
The B+ Heroes 200 presented by BCKSTGR will be televised on SPEED TV Saturday, May 26 at 2:00 PM ET. The next event is the EMCO Gears Classic at Mid-Ohio on Saturday, June 9.
