Introducing GSM Racing and the return of the original "Hot Hatch"
Pittsburgh, PA. (January 18th, 2007) German Speed Merchants has partnered with Bildon Motorsport to form GSM Racing. The GSM Racing team will campaign the exciting new Volkswagen GTI in the 2007 Grand-Am Koni Challenge series.
GSM Racing owner, Jon Lewis; "We're proud to be the first team in the USA to race the new Volkswagen GTI professionally." "We've been involved with Grand-Am for a number of years now. When it was time to look at fielding a team ourselves we didn't have to look far for the best candidate." We've always been a fan of the GTI and when the new car's impressive performance was revealed during a test drive, the decision was made for us."
Bill Sulouff, owner of Bildon Motorsport and GSM Racing's Technical Director is optimistic about the season. "We feel the platform with its new 4 wheel independent suspension, and LeMans winning FSI turbo technology is just the ticket to bring Volkswagen and the original hot hatch back into victory lane." Furthermore, discussions with our technical partners and our friends racing the new GTI in Europe have confirmed that this car is a winner.
GSM Racing plans on doing selective races in their inaugural season and discussions are ongoing to build additional cars should the partners and sponsors fall in to place. The final driver lineup for the team has yet to be announced but a list of talented pilots is currently being reviewed with an announcement to be made soon.
