Martini to start Wheel Enhancement Porsche 10th in Grand-Am Cup season opener

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (January 26, 2006) – Brent Martini, of Laguna Beach, Calif., will start the No. 81 Wheel Enhancement Porsche 997 of Synergy Racing 10th in Friday afternoon's 200-mile season opener at Daytona International Speedway. Martini clocked a 2:03:591 averaging 103.697 mph around Daytona's 3.56-mile road course, earning the fifth-row starting position after two other Porsche entries, including the pole winner, had their times disqualified for illegal suspensions.

"I got hung up a little bit with traffic that was faster than me in a straight line, but was slower under the braking zones where we could have made up some time," explained Martini, who had to contend with 48 other Grand Sport entries during qualifying.

"The Wheel Enhancement Porsche is very well balanced, though, and should be great for the race," he continued.

Synergy Racing debuted a new livery on the No. 81 Martini Porsche following Wednesday's announcement of Wheel Enhancement as the primary sponsor of the entry for the entire 2006 Grand-Am Cup Series. Porsche factory driver Patrick Long, of Las Vegas, Nev., was also announced as Martini's teammate for Friday's season opener.

Grand-Am Cup will hold a final practice on Friday morning before its race, which begins at 2:15 p.m. For additional information visit daytonainternationalspeedway.com or grandamerican.com.

About Synergy Racing
Team owners Cole Scrogham and Danny and Steve Marshall introduced Synergy Racing in December 2004. Based at Virginia International Raceway, Synergy Racing is an evolution of G&W Motorsports, which had catered to Porsche racing since 1996 and became the most successful team in the Rolex Sports Car Series with three team championships and four driver champions, 15 class wins and more than 50 podium finishes. The team underwent a major transformation that included a name and logo change, as well as a complete restructuring into a customer-based championship racing business, which concentrates on the needs of the customer rather than the desires of the team.
