It Comes Down to This: TheRaceSite.com Racing Heads to California

North Canton, Ohio -- There is one race left in the 2004 Grand Am Cup season and TheRaceSite.com Racing is in the center of a points race. The Grand Am Cup Grand Sport team heads to Fontana this weekend having already clinched the Manufacturers Championship and gunning for a chance at two additional championships, team and driver.

In the driver championship Craig Stanton trails Terry Borcheller by a mere four points. Stanton has won the past two Grand Am Cup races with partner David Murry. Stanton must not only win the California race but needs to make sure there is one car between his Porsche 911 and the Powell Motorsport Cadillac CTS-V driven by Borcheller.

Stanton and Borcheller shared the first three wins of the season as co-drivers for TheRaceSite.com Racing. Borcheller then joined Powell Motorsports to participate as Devon Powell's co-driver.

For the Mont Tremblant race Stanton hooked up with his American Le Mans Series partner, David Murry. The duo continued on through the season and has taken three wins together and a top five finish. They will finish out the 2004 season together this Saturday at the Grand Am Cup 250.

If all goes well for TheRaceSite.com Racing they have a chance to take spots one and two in the team point standings, however. The No. 35 Schuitemaker Motorsports car may have something to say about that. The No. 35 car trails the No. 43 Porsche by seven points.

A positive for the team effort are that the No. 44 and No. 43 Porsche 911's have combined for twelve top five finishes this season. The drivers in both cars are hoping to step it up for a big finish for 2004.

"Of course we want to win, there's no doubt about that but being such a team oriented group we are going to California with one purpose, to win the Championship for Craig," stated Wayne Nonnamaker.

In the No. 44 car will be Joe and Wayne Nonnamaker who are trying to edge out Michiel Schuitemaker and BJ Zacharias for third place in driver point standings. The Nonnamakers trail by twelve points.

"This season has had its share of nail biting moments and to have the driver points race this close coming into California is very fitting. We need to perform well as an entire team, everything needs to be in the right place and we can do that," states Joe Nonnamaker.

"Our team is accustomed to this feeling," Nonnamaker continued. "Since the inception of Grand Am Cup in 2001 we have went to the final race of every season in the hunt for the Championship. All three of those years we came home with a Team and Driver Championship. We hope 2004 will be more of the same."

TheRaceSite.com racing defends their Grand-Am Cup Grand Sport title with support from HRPworld.com, HAWK Performance, Kempthorn Auto Mall, SpeedSource, SpeedGroup International, TheRaceMarket.com, North Jersey Dermatology Center, Buddy Stubbs' Harley Davidson, Grassroots Motorsports Magazine and 9 Magazine.
