BSI Racing: Ready for the Homestead-Miami Speedway

After waiting for the winter winds to die down the Florida based race team, BSI Racing and Team Garcia, are ready for their first Spring race at the Homestead-Miami Speedway this Sunday in the KONI Challenge. The team will be racing the No. 56 and No. 58 Mazda MX-5 Joe Gibbs/MOMO sponsored race cars.

With more than two months in between races, the orange and black Mazda roadsters have seen plenty of track time thanks to three private test sessions hosted by BSI Racing. Countless hours and laps have been logged in the brand new MX-5 race car throughout the three track test sessions. Along with knowledge gained from the track, the team is bringing with them years of race experience at the Homestead-Miami Speedway. BSI Racing has been participating in races at Homestead with the Spec Miata for over 10 years. Stu Brumer, team owner, has a considerable amount of knowledge and data from the track. Brumer and Florida drivers, Carlos Garcia and Todd Buras in the No. 56 MX-5 have had numerous club events and race wins at the Homestead track.

The No. 58 MX-5 will be driven by Northern California teammates Magnus Karlsson and Justin Hall. This will be their first experience on the South Florida race track. Hall is a road racer in the purest sense of the term having only raced on more traditional road circuits. This 2007 season is his first time driving the "rovals", which is so prevalent in KONI Challenge Series. Hall and Karlsson hope to apply the knowledge gained via the Daytona tests and races in January to a successful weekend here at Homestead. Both drivers are confident in their skill and have full confidence in their Sunday race track debut.

Garcia is a local Miami resident and will be racing in front of friends and family. The hometown track advantage and his test sessions with BSI will help his race day experience. "We are heading into Homestead with high expectations and a positive outlook. With each of our tests we accomplished so much. The MX-5 has proven itself to be a highly adjustable car," said Garcia.
