Next Generation Motorsports Signs Cosmo and Lewis for Iowa
The first racer to take a win on Iowa Speedway's 1.3-mile infield road course will be back to defend his title as Guy Cosmo has been signed by Next Generation Motorsports to pilot the No. 127 Next Generation Motorsports BMW 330i in Sunday's 250-mile Grand-Am KONI Challenge feature.
Further boosting the effort will be the addition of Shane Lewis to the driving line up after Lewis was given the blessing to race in the event by his Honda Of America Racing Team, which is not participating in the Iowa race weekend. Next Generation will also be fielding the No. 128 of Kevin York and Marko Radisic in the Iowa race in the Hawk Brakes, Marren Fuel Injection, Badass Builders, Rogue Engineering, GoEnzo.com BMW 330i.
"I am really excited to have two drivers like Guy and Shane with us in this Next Generation Motorsports BMW," said Next Generation Motorsports team owner Jeffrey Bock, who recently resumed full ownership of the team, previously known as Fountain Motorsports. "This race could have a lot of carnage, but we have two fast and smart drivers in the car, so hopefully we can get the second half of the season off to a good start this weekend in Iowa."
"Getting the chance to defend my race win form last year is a great opportunity and I want to thank Jeff for giving me the call," said Cosmo as he prepared for the Rolex Sports Car Series race at Watkins Glen on Friday. "It's great to have Shane as a co-driver because we've raced each other really hard in the past and I'm looking forward to having him as a teammate. Hopefully we can get Next Generation a good result and I can keep my KONI Challenge record perfect in Iowa!"
"I want to thank HART for letting me run with Guy and the Next Generation guys this weekend and I'm really looking forward to the weekend," said Lewis, who will also be contesting the Rolex Daytona Prototype event before jetting West to Newton, Iowa for the KONI race weekend. "HART will be back at Trois-Rivieres, but in the meantime hopefully I can keep getting points in the championship with a strong outing driving with Guy. It should be fun, no question!"
Saturday will feature a promoter test day, with the grid set on Sunday morning in advance of the 6:00 PM race start on Sunday evening.
