Homestead pole qualifier taking momentum to new venue
Newton, IA (20 April 07)- After scoring the pole position and leading the most laps in the KONI Challenge 400k at Homestead-Miami Speedway last weekend, Valerie Limoges is looking to take the momentum from her breakthrough performance in the USG Sheetrock/Ramset Tools Ford Mustang FR500C to Iowa this weekend as the Series debuts in the Hawkeye state. Limoges was frustrated by the long break between rounds one and two of the 2007 season, but is now looking forward to the KONI back-to-back as the Series stages round three of KONI action on the 1.3-mile oval-based road course.
"I am really excited about this weekend," said Limoges, who made KONI history as the first female to win a pole position. "The track is going to be new for everyone and I got a lot of experience learning new tracks all last season, so hopefully I can put that to use."
Limoges, who proved herself as an ace in karts in her native Quebec before moving up to race in KONI competition, will be co-driving with Guy Cosmo this weekend, not to mention sharing the car with a new boost in confidence.
"For sure it felt good to run up front but I knew if we were able to improve our qualifying we would be able to do that," said Limoges. "But running up front was a lot of fun and I want to do it more now and just want to keep on improving my results."
Limoges' Blackforest Motorsports teammate Tom Nastasi won the Homestead race in the sister No.5 machine with Ian James co-driving, and will once again share the driving duties with James this weekend in Iowa.
