Synergy Drivers Just Love Laguna Seca

"I think its one of my favorite places to go because not only is the track great, but the area is great as well. You've got Monterey and Carmel, what more could you ask for?" -- David Murry, No. 80 & No. 81 Porsches

"I'm so glad this race is on the schedule. I've raced at Laguna Seca since the start of my career, and it has always been one of my favorite tracks. It's a technical track and that puts the driver back into the picture. Out of all of the great tracks we have on the Rolex schedule, I've been looking forward to racing here more than any other. Besides, I love any track that I can go surfing at in the morning and racing in the afternoon." -- Craig Stanton, No. 80 Porsche

"It has been way too long since I last raced at Laguna, so I am particularly excited about the weekend and running on this track with such a fast car. The track itself is just outstanding--with some very high speed and high commitment corners as well as some slower technical sections as well. I think its going to be even more amazing with 50 other cars on the track at the same time--traffic is going to be even more of a factor than it normally is in Rolex races." -- Burt Frisselle, Rx.com No. 8 BMW Doran JE4

"This track is just awesome. I am really happy that Grand-Am decided to race here this year because this is how I think racetracks should be--fast sweeping corners with big elevation changes and, of course, the corkscrew is going to be amazing in this car!" -- Brian Frisselle, Rx.com No. 8 BMW Doran JE4

Stanton Gets Bump in Points, In Hunt for GT Championship Synergy Racing driver Craig Stanton has received a boost in the GT point standings heading into this weekend's Road & Track 250. The driver of the No. 80 Porsche is now second in the class point standings issued by series officials.

Due to a rules technicality, Stanton, who has two fourth-place finishes and a third-place finish in the first three races of the 2005 championship, had not been granted the points for his fourth-place finish at Homestead-Miami Speedway in March. However, Grand American Road Racing Association officials reviewed the situation and awarded Stanton the 28 points for the Grand Prix of Miami, giving him a total of 86 points and putting him within seven points of first place.

"I'm really excited that Grand American saw clear to give us our points back," Stanton said. "That puts us back in second place. If we can keep plugging along and getting podiums and top-five finishes, that will work to our favor at the end of the year. Every point counts because it is so competitive."

Rx.com Drivers Aiming for Another Shot in the Front The Rx.com No. 8 BMW Doran JE 4 has made a run in the front of the field during the last two Rolex Series races at California Speedway and Homestead-Miami Speedway. Elder brother Burt Frisselle (Aventura, Fla.) piloted the Rx.com Daytona Prototype in the lead for nine laps during the Grand Prix of Miami and 18 laps during the Ferrari Maserati 400.

"Hopefully we can keep leading the races like we have, and we want to avoid some of the trouble we have had the last couple of races and get a good finish to take some points out of here," said younger brother Brian Frisselle (Aventura, Fla.).

At ages 23 and 21, the Frisselle brothers are the youngest driving duo in the Daytona Prototype class.

Synergy Drivers Happy About Rules Change

Grand American officials issued rule changes following the Ferrari Maserati 400, round three of the Rolex Sports Car Series at California Speedway, modifying the minimum weight of the Porsche GT3 Cup from 2,700 pounds to 2,600 pounds. The reduction was a welcome announcement for Synergy's Porsche drivers Mae Van Wijk, David Murry and Craig Stanton.

"This is a great Porsche track and I think all of the fans are going to really enjoy watching a Rolex race here. The weight reduction we got for the car going into this race is really going to help," remarked Stanton, who will share the No. 80 Porsche with David Murry during Sunday's Road & Track 250.

About Synergy Racing
Team owners Cole Scrogham and Danny and Steve Marshall introduced Synergy Racing in December 2004. Based at Virginia International Raceway, Synergy Racing is an evolution of G&W Motorsports, which had catered to Porsche racing since 1996 and became the most successful team in the Rolex Sports Car Series with four championships, 15 class wins and more than 50 podium finishes. The team underwent a major transformation that included a name and logo change, as well as a complete restructuring into a customer-based championship racing business, which concentrates on the needs of the customer rather than the desires of the team.
