Atterbury Qualifies 6th in New Jersey
Highest Starting Position of the Season for Mitchum Motorsports

MILLVILLE, NJ (July 17, 2010) - Joey Atterbury qualified the #6.2 Mitchum Motorsports Camaro in sixth position for this afternoons Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Garden State 250 at New Jersey Motorsports Park. A season high starting position for the team has Atterbury and co-driver Ted Anthony, Jr primed for a strong race this afternoon.

Heavy rain greened the track overnight, and with no practice session before the 15 minute qualifying this morning, Atterbury had to get a feel for the track in short order. He did just that and posted his fastest lap of the weekend with a 1:31.013 in just his fourth lap.

Atterbury was thrilled with the team's first top ten qualifying position of the season. "The car was great this morning and once I got a feel for the track I was able to lay down a flier. I am really pleased with our starting position", said Atterbury. "We are in a great spot to stay up front throughout the race and bring the Camaro home with a strong finish."

Team Principal Chris Mitchum was also pleased with the performance of Atterbury. "Joey picked a great time to put his fastest lap of the weekend on the books, when it really counts", noted Mitchum.

Mitchum has high expectations for the race this afternoon with the new driver lineup. "Obviously Joey qualified great, but even more important, the team has been working really hard and firing on all cylinders. Ted (Anthony, Jr) joined us this weekend and has made a great impression with the team and on the track. Both drivers worked together to find the speed we showed today. That is what this team is all about, working together and developing young talented drivers", added Mitchum. "With Joey and Ted driving so well, this is our best opportunity for a top five finish."

The Garden State 250 is this afternoon at 2:45 PM EDT. Tune into live timing and scoring at GRAND-AM.com to follow the race. Speed TV will broadcast the race July 25th at 1:00 PM EDT.
