TAMPA (January 13, 2006) -- Performance Motorsports has confirmed David Tuaty and Jason Potter as the pilots for their new BMW Z4 in pursuit of the 2006 Grand-Am Cup championship.
A successful and experienced driver line-up will be spearheading the BMW Z4 assault on the title. Driver David Tuaty, who will team with Jason Potter, who finished nineteenth in last years championship are excited about being able to build on last years success.
Performance Motorsports, a Florida based team, has purchased the BMW Z4s which were prepared and campaigned by TC Kline racing during the 2005 Grand-Am Cup championship. These competition prepared cars helped BMW secure second place in the manufacturer point standings last year and will figure prominently in BMW's hunt for the Sport Touring crown in 2006.
David Tuaty 34, of Miami will be contesting his fifth Grand-Am Cup championship in 2006. Tuaty and co driver Jason Potter are looking forward to a climb up the championship rankings coming off of a consistent but ultimately frustrating 2005 season. "We were looking for a better finish in the standings but a few mistakes held us back" Tuaty went on to add "this one of the most competitive series on the planet so you can't afford many slip ups if you expect to win."
The season kicks off with the 24 Hours at Daytona, January 26-29 at Daytona International Speedway where Tuaty looks to start the season off strong. "We opened last season really strong, the car was great and we put in good drives so I am looking to repeat that performance this year."
Tuaty finished by saying "I think we have the car, team and driver line up to win the Sport Touring championship, keep an eye on our Z4 in 2006."
