SCC: Roush, Johnson take 400th win for Roush Racing

Jack Roush Jr. and Billy Johnson won Saturday's Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge at the Homestead-Miami Speedway. The win came one day after Roush's pole winning qualifying time was disallowed after Grand-Am officials discovered unapproved brake ducting on his Ford Mustang GT.

Roush, the son of famed engine builder and NASCAR team owner Jack Roush, started 34th and steadily worked his way through traffic to take the lead for the first time on lap 35. He managed to lead nine laps before handing the car over to Johnson. Matt Plumb was leading when Johnson entered the fray, but Plumb ran into the barrels at the entrance of the pit lane after his hood popped open and covered his windshield. Johnson assumed the lead during the caution that followed Plumb's crash and he went on to hand Roush Racing its 400th win.

"Yesterday during qualifying the car was flawless," said Roush. "It is unfortunate that we had a dispute over what the rule book says. But the car was awesome today and we drove it through the field without a crash."

"The car handled very well and we tried to manage the tires," added Johnson.

Terry Borcheller and Andrew Hendricks finished second in a Fall-Line Motorsports BMW M3, followed by the Turner Motorsports BMW M3 shared by Joey Hand and Michael Marsal.

The Street Tuner class win went to Tom Long and Derek Whitis in a Mazda MX- 5. Long took the lead on the last lap. The Honda Civic Si of Lawson Aschenbach and David Thilenius ended up second and Craig Conway and BJ Zacharias rounded out the top-three in a Mini Cooper S.
