Valvoline Cup Goes to Phoenix ProMotions Driver

Massillon, Ohio - In a season of six victories, one championship, and finishing as runner up in the Porsche Cup Craig Stanton has one more title to add to his unbelievable 2004 season. After the final votes were tallied Stanton was named winner of the 2004 Valvoline Cup.

Stanton, a driver for the Phoenix ProMotions race effort, had a truly incredible season with a fantastic ending. He was caught up in a points chase with former teammate Terry Borcheller and it came down to the wire at the last race of the season in California. Stanton and Borcheller finished tied in points but it was the six wins that brought Stanton the Grand-Am Cup championship.

The Valvoline Cup allows many different drivers from many different series to compete for a championship. Points are calculated by finishing position by drivers in their own series. This year's Valvoline Cup consisted of 36 classes.

"We are really proud of Craig and to have him has a member of our team. He's a great guy and an amazing driver. Having him in our cars was a great experience for all," states Wayne Nonnamaker.

Stanton, a native of Hollywood, CA who now lives in Long Beach, also participates in the American Le Mans series with co-driver David Murry. Stanton and Murry finished out the Grand-Am Cup season as teammates.
