#43 Team Sahlen Corvette survives rainy Mid-Ohio for 6th Place

At the Mid-Ohio ROLEX weekend, Team Sahlen continued to demonstrate their new found performance with strong runs in practice and in the race.

In Practice Session #2, Wayne placed the #43 Corvette comfortably in the 3rd slot in GT.This trend continued as Joe Nonnamaker placed the Corvette in 5th position in the Practice Session #3.

"The crew has been working hard to fine tune our Team Sahlen Corvette. It appears that hard work is starting to pay off with great pace to go along with the great reliability we have been showing all year long." - states Wayne Nonnamaker

For Qualifying, Joe Nonnamaker and Joe Sahlen apply placed the #43 and #42 racers 16th and 19th respectively.

For race day, the skies were clear and the crowd was growing by the hour. Then just as cars were taking formation on the track to start the race, a fierce thunderstorm blew in.The race was able to get started under dry conditions, but 5 laps into the race, and the deluge of water came pouring down.Race cars were everywhere, spun around the track. Thankfully, Joe and Joe did a fantastic job keeping the slick tired Corvettes on the track.

Wayne and Will Nonnamaker proceeded to jump in and finish the race. Wayne drove a very consistent and persistent race.Lap after lap, he remained on the lead lap with the GT leaders. Then as the final laps of the race neared, he found himself in a great position, battling with the race leaders. Finally as the checkered flag flew, Wayne crossed the line in 6th place.

Will's adventures behind the wheel were extra complicated by the factor of a broken windshield wiper.Despite blinding conditions, Will ploughed through the race, putting not one scratch on the car.In the end the #42 machine crossed the line in 17th place.

Team Sahlen stuck around for the Open Test Session held on Monday. The extra track time was beneficial, as several new pieces were sampled on the Corvettes. These pieces will be beneficial when Team Sahlen makes their next race appearance at Barber Motorsports Park for the ROLEX GT event.

Team Sahlen Mazda ready for 80+ KONI entries at the Glen

The KONI Challenge Series event for Watkins Glen International has over 80+ entires.Over 45+ of those entries are in the Street Tuner class that the #43 Team Sahlen Mazda RX8 will be competing within during the weekend.

"Watkins Glen is the home track for Sahlen's, so we are extra excited to put on a good show for the local fans. The twisty nature of this circuit should assist us in competing with the Turbo and Supercharged competitors in our class." - states Will Nonnamaker

"I was used to the wet conditions from the GT ROLEX race the day before. We survived the race with hardly a scratch on the Mazda. In the end 17th was a nice finish, although we were hoping for much more." - states Will Nonnamaker

"I love getting to drive at Watkins Glen.I have been coming to this event for so many years. We have already been here once this year in the ROLEX GT class Team Sahlen Corvettes. So there will be that advantage of already racing around this track recently." - states Joe Sahlen
