SCC: Toto Lassally Daytona preview

Daytona Area Resident Toto Lassally Ready To Challenge As Late Entry In Today's GRAND-AM 200 Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Season Opener

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (January 28, 2011) - A pair of Daytona-area drivers and a top Orlando racing team have combined for a late but competitive entry in today's GRAND-AM 200 Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge at Daytona International Speedway.

Daytona Beach businessman and resident Toto Lassally partnered Wednesday with GRAND-AM Road Racing veteran Craig Conway to drive the No. 39 Automatic Racing BMW M3. Despite the last minute deal, both racers combine over four decades of racing experience while Automatic is a championship-winning team that has been on the racing grid for almost a decade.

Born in Scotland, Conway began racing in 1981. Conway has raced everything from rally in his native country to winning championships in SCCA, and successfully competing in diverse GT-based series in the United States. He has lived in Volusia County since 1988, and is the president of Diamond Suzuki, of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and is the owner of of a Daytona Mitsubishi-Kia dealership.

Lassally, a native of El Salvador who grew up in Daytona, is contesting his second race of the year. Two weeks ago he was running second in class in the Dubai 24 hour race when an engine failure put an end to his challenge. Lassally has lived in Volusia County for over 30 years and has recently opened several new business ventures. One is Vision-X Sportswear, a specialized brand for custom made print clothing. Other companies include Custom Graphics, makers of a large variety of stickers for racing and commercial purposes, and MyPluggz.com, a specialized ear plug manufacturer offering a variety of personal, competition and professional applications.

Lassally is known for linking his racing activities through EveryLapCounts.com to charities as such as One Child and Camp Boggy Creek, two organizations focused on helping children.
