Never Before attempted in an Endurance Race: 2 Drivers + 2 Cars Team Sahlen record achievement

In the history of Endurance Sports Car Racing, no team has ever attempted the feat of racing two cars with two drivers in the same race.

Not until this weekend at Miller Motorsports Park in the Friday night Grand-Am Cup race. Team Sahlen will be entering Joe Sahlen and Will Nonnamaker as the only drivers in two cars. If that wasn't already difficult, Team Sahlen is making it even more of a challenge by making the cars a Porsche 911 in the Grand Sports Class and a Dodge SRT4 in the Street Tuner Class. By co-driving in two different cars, in two different classes, all in the same race will require that the two drivers pit and swap cars at the same exact moment. This means that orchestrating a simultaneous pit stop will be a thing of magic for the crew.

"Both Joe and I have been committed to this and have really worked to maintain peak physical fitness this season. "I have been training extra hard ever since Trios Rivieres to be prepared for this great adventure. I have been putting lots of time on my bike and extra visits to the gym to prepare. We have planned and detailed out how we will go about this pit stop procedure." stated Will Nonnamaker.

"The part that makes this extra interesting is not only driving the whole race, but doing it in two completely different cars. One is rear engine - normally aspirated, and the other is front wheel drive - turbocharged. They say this can't be done, but only because no one has tried it yet. Hopefully we will prove it so." Stated Joe Sahlen

Nonnamaker and Sahlen have spent time in both cars this season and hope to bring home an excellent finish from Miller Motorsports Park. The course is a 4.5 mile road course, which could further add to the challenge of race. Nonnamaker will start out in the No. 41 Dodge and Sahlen will begin the race in the No. 43 Porsche.
