SpeedSource announces 2003 campaign

Sunrise, FL -- SpeedSource announced today that they would be mounting season long campaigns with two Porsche GT3 Cup cars in the Grand Sports I class as well as a Porsche Boxster in the Sports Touring I class. In addition the SpeedSource fleet of yellow Porsches may swell as large as six cars at select races during the season.

Even though SpeedSource has not raced since the Grand Am Cup season finale last November, the off-season has not been a quiet one. The staff at SpeedSource has been busy re-engineering their fleet of Porsches for the upcoming season.

"We won the Grand Sports II class and finished second in Grand Sports I to end the season last year, but the development curve in the Grand Am Cup is very steep," commented 2001 Grand Sports II Champion Sylvain Tremblay. "We looked at these cars from every angle to see where we could get more speed. David [Haskell], our in house shock expert, continued to develop our Dynamic Suspension shocks and we looked at a couple of other areas on the car that will allow us to continue running up front."

For SpeedSource one of the team's strengths for the 2003 season will be the return of Paul Mears, Jr. and Selby Wellman to the driving lineup. Mears and Wellman both joined the team in 2001 and have rapidly developed as drivers. Mears was voted by his peers as the Rising Star of the Year in Grand Sports I in 2002.

"Paul and Selby have both come along way as drivers," added David Haskell. "Their development as drivers has been key in our success last season, and their performances will help drive our success this season as well."

Adding stability to the driver's lineup is very important in endurance racing. For the second straight season, Wellman and Tremblay will share the #70 Redhat / Workscape / SpeedSource / Champion Porsche / Fikse Wheels Porsche GT3 Cup. Haskell and Mears will co-drive together for the second consecutive season in the #66 Mears Motor Coach / SpeedSource / Champion Porsche / Fikse Wheels Porsche GT3 Cup.

Heading up the driver lineup in Sports Touring I will be Scott Schlesinger. The 2003 season will mark Schlesinger's third with the team. Schlesinger will be piloting the #68 Giantbank.com / Onboard Media / Papa John's Pizza / Champion / Fikse / SpeedSource Porsche Boxster. The Boxster showed strong promise in 2002 as it scored a pole position at Daytona International Speedway and led the race at Virginia International Raceway.

SpeedSource's main challenge in the Grand Sports II class will be the #41 SpeedSource Porsche. The #41 Porsche is the same vehicle that Tremblay drove to his 2001 Championship. For 2003 the car will be driven by the father-son duo of Joe and Wayne Nonnamaker.

SpeedSource Race Engineering will be racing in 2003 with support from Mears Motor Coach, Redhat, WorkScape, GiantBank.com, Champion Porsche, Dynamic Suspension, Fikse, Pi Research, Onboard Media, and Papa John's Pizza.
