Grossenbacher Joins Synergy Racing as Technical Director

ALTON, Va. (December 9, 2004) -- Synergy Racing team owner Cole Scrogham announced today that Gary Grossenbacher has joined the team in the role of Technical Director. Grossenbacher has signed a three-year deal to serve in the fulltime position with Synergy Racing.

"This is one of the key elements to our organizational restructuring," Scrogham said. "Having someone with Gary's experience and expertise on our team will be a tremendous asset. His background working for Porsche Motorsports will be a great benefit to our program."

Synergy's Director of Racing Price Cobb adds, "Gary hails from a time when you had to think with your head beyond what you could glean from the computer. With his engineering background and overall hands on experience, beyond which he learned in books at school added to the sheer amount of incredible success he has in his career, Synergy Racing will be in the most capable hands for years to come."

Grossenbacher has an extensive background in motorsports, engineering cars for some of the greatest drivers of this era including Derek Bell, Al Holbert, Al Unser Jr., Al Unser Sr., A.J. Foyt, Teo Fabi, Bobby Rahal, Eliseo Salasar and Sterling Marlin.

Most recently, Grossenbacher worked for G2 Inc., on its General Motors Motorsports Technology Group contract, which included engineering design, manufacturing, application and support of NASCAR suppliers and race teams. Prior to that, he worked with Rahal/Hogan and Truesports as a design and development engineer.

In the late 1980s, Grossenbacher was a lead design and development engineer for Porsche Motorsports North America and Holbert Racing, researching, designing and developing race cars and their components. He served as the track engineer for Al Holbert, 1984-87, and Teo Fabi in 1988.

Grossenbacher is quite familiar with the Daytona Prototype concept, as well. He designed and managed the scale model program of the Doran JE4 Daytona Prototype for Doran Designs, 2002-03, and served as lead engineer for G&W Motorsports' Daytona Prototype program last season.

Grossenbacher has engineered several race- and championship-winning cars throughout the years, with three IMSA championships and two Rolex 24 At Daytona wins with Porsche Motorsports/Holbert Racing, NASCAR wins at Talladega and Daytona with Morgan McClure Motorsports, a CART championship with Rahal/Hogan, an ALMS championship with Intersport Racing, and numerous World Sports Car victories with the Doran Racing/MOMO Ferrari.
