Comer Racing to Race MT900R Morrison Mosler Motorsports and Comer Racing announced that Comer Racing will be the first team to campaign the new MT900R in the Grand-Am series, beginning at the second event of the season at Homestead-Miami Speedway, March 1-4. The MT900R will be the second car in the Comer Racing stable, running alongside the #18 Chevrolet Corvette competing in the American GT class. Testing of the MT900R, which will compete in the GT class, will begin immediately following the Rolex 24 At Daytona.

Dyson Racing Purchases Two New Riley & Scotts Dyson Racing announced that it has purchased two new Riley & Scott Mk11 C SportsRacing Prototypes, and plan to take possession of the first chassis after the Rolex 24 At Daytona in February. Dyson Racing will compete at the Rolex 24 with chassis 002 and 010 powered by a 6-liter V-8 Lozano Ford motor.

More than 30 Porsches to Contest in Three Classes at Rolex 24 More than 30 Porsches, including 17 Porsche 911 GT3 R and GT3 RS models, will enter the 2001 Rolex 24 At Daytona, led by the #38 Champion Racing Lola Porsche, driven by Dorsey Schroeder, Bob Wollek, Hurley Haywood and Sascha Maassen. Several celebrity drivers will get behind the wheel of a Porsche at the Rolex 24, including NASCAR driver Kyle Petty in the #43 Orbit Racing Porsche 911 GT3 RS and Academy Award Winner Paul Newman in the #76 Porsche GT1.

Track Testing Available in Charlotte Comer Racing will be testing before the Rolex 24 At Daytona on January 18, on the road circuit at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Other cars are welcome to join the team on the track for testing. Interested teams should contact Steve Smith at the Comer Racing shop at 904-799-7069 or via cell at 207-841-1866. Cost of the track rental will be split evenly among the participants.

Brown Motorsports Re-signs with Mac Tools The Brown Motorsports #2 Ferrari 333SP team re-signed with Mac Tools as an associate sponsor for the 2001 through 2003 Grand-Am seasons. Mac Tools is considered a leader in the professional technicians hand tool industry and has had a long-standing history in the motorsports arena. Brown Motorsports will kick off its 2001 season at the Rolex 24 At Daytona, and will display their #2 Ferrari at the Mac Tools 2001 Tool Fair, Feb. 24-26, in Dallas.

Risi Competizione Ferrari Team Announces Driver Line-Up The Risi Competizione Ferrari Team announced its plans and driver line-up for the 2001 Rolex 24 At Daytona. The team will field the #12 Ferrari 333SP, piloted by Ralf Kelleners, Allan McNish and Eric van de Poele. It is still awaiting word on a possible fourth driver for the Rolex 24, David Brabham. The Rolex 24 will mark McNish's only sports car driving appearance of 2001 with the Risi Competizione team. Kelleners was a permanent team driver for Risi Competizione last season on the Grand-Am circuit, while van de Poele is a former Formula One driver, who has a history of driving with the Risi Ferrari team. He co-drove with Kellners and Mimmo Schiattarella in the Ferrari 333 at the 6 Hours of Watkins Glen last August, and substituted for Kelleners at Road America to a second-place finish.

Lux Drives Pilbeam SRPII at Test Cindi Lux tested the new SRPII Pelbeam racer at the annual Test Days for the Rolex 24. She piloted the Pilbeam MP 84 as her first entry into open cockpit racing. The Pilbeam MP 84 was the 2000 European champion in the Sport Racer Prototype lights category, and comes to the United States to compete in the SRPII class of the Grand American Road Racing series.
