Turner Motorsport Races into June; Four Race Weekends for the Blue and Yellow BMWs This Month
Amesbury, MA. – May 31st, 2012 ---The month of June is the most demanding in the 2012 Grand-Am season for Turner Motorsport with four weekends of racing- some 25% of the season – taking place in only one month. Beginning with only the Rolex Series at the Detroit Grand Prix this weekend, three of the following four weekends will see the team at Mid-Ohio, Road America and Watkins Glen for both the Continental Tire and Rolex Series competition.
2012 Grand Sport driver's champion Paul Dalla Lana has had mixed results in the first four races of the CTSCC season. A fourth place finish at Homestead-Miami Speedway has been the No. 96 M3's best result to date. He stands seventh in driver points.
The No. 97 M3 of Michael Marsal and Boris Said saw their first top-five finish of the season (fourth) at New Jersey. The duo has driven to two top-10 results at Daytona and Homestead-Miami, but a crash at Barber Motorsports Park and the resulting 30th place finish has them eighth in driver points.
In Rolex competition, Dalla Lana has had a much better season, co-driving to a season's best fourth place finish at New Jersey with Billy Johnson (substituting for Auberlen). Dalla Lana and Auberlen had two consecutive fifth place finishes prior to that, leaving Dalla Lana eighth in GT driver points.
"I hope we all feel as good at the end of this month as we do at the beginning," said Will Turner. "Four race weekends in a month is not an easy task, but I think we have started a healthy momentum. Detroit will be new to us all, but we only have to focus on the GT car. The rest of the month will see us race both GT and GS BMWs at some of the best circuits in North America. I encourage all the Turner fans and supporters to stay tuned to our twitter and facebook posts to keep up with us."
