Amesbury, MA. – September 25th, 2013 -- Turner Motorsport prepares for homecoming and the final race of the 2013 Grand-Am season at Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, Connecticut this Saturday. This race will mark the last time ever that Grand-Am road racing will visit the historic 1.57 mile 7-turn track nestled in the northeastern corner of Connecticut. The race also potentially marks the last time Turner Motorsport will race the iconic BMW M3 at the BMW sponsored track, as Lime Rock is not on the 2014 United Sports Car Series schedule.
To celebrate 20 years of racing and Turner Motorsport's 280th professional race start at Lime Rock Park, the No. 97 GS class M3 running in Saturday morning's two and one half hour Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge race will feature a retro livery recreated from the Speed World Challenge E46 325i touring car which ran at Lime Rock in 2003. Will Turner and Don Salama will be behind the wheel together for the first time since 2009 at Laguna Seca where they made history as the first E90 chassis BMW to win in Grand-Am racing in the No. 95 328i ST class BMW.
"Lime Rock is my favorite race of the year – it's great to reconnect with friends, fans and of course drive the challenging and exciting track itself," Will Turner Said, "This year – I get to race with Salama, he is no spring chicken, I hope he is still fast."
The No. 96 GS class M3 will be driven by Paul Dalla Lana and Bill Auberlen as they will search for their second win of the season and third podium in the grand sport class of the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge on Saturday morning. The duo will return in Saturday afternoon's Rolex Series race in the No. 94 GT class M3 with a chance to round out the 2013 season with four class victories, a career high for Turner in Rolex GT competition.Tom Kimber-Smith will accompany Michael Marsal in the No. 93 GT class M3 for this weekend's two and three quarter hour Rolex series race. Kimber-Smith has enjoyed much success in sports car racing with 3 24 Hour of Le Mans career victories and several British Touring Car championship victories. Marsal will look to keep his podium streak alive after two second place finishes at Laguna Seca and Road America in the No. 93.
The Lime Rock Park 2013 Finale will be the last race for both the No. 93 and No. 94 GT class M3's as Turner Motorsport will turn to different cars for the 2014 United Sports Car Racing inaugural season. Stay tuned via social media and press releases for the official announcement for the upcoming 2014 season.
