Brix Qualifies 19th in Kodak Car For Rolex Series Season Finale At Miller Motorsports Park

TOOELE, Utah, Sept. 1 - On Friday Harrison Brix put the Feeds the Need/Doran Racing DORAN JE4 Ford No. 77 into the field for Saturday's Discount Tire SunChaser Rolex Series season finale at Miller Motorsports Park. Driving the car that carries the colors of the Kodak EasyShare System, Amp'd Mobile and SIRIUS, the San Jose, Calif.-based driver qualified 19th in a field of 41 for the nine-hour race that starts at noon tomorrow and will be broadcast live on SPEED beginning at 2 p.m. Eastern time.

Brix's qualifying time was a 2:41.956 for an average speed of 99.716 miles per hour. Sharing the car with Brix this weekend are NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver Michel Jourdain Jr. of Mexico City, Mexico and Champ Car World Series star Oriol Servia of Miami.

"The car was more consistent in qualifying, which is good for a nine-hour race," Brix said. "We were better in the high-speed corners too. The team is working really hard. Doran Racing is excellent in preparing a car that can go the distance, and Michel, Oriol and I will do our best to bring it home in one piece tomorrow."

Tony Ave of Mooresville, N.C. qualified the red Doran Racing DORAN JE4 Pontiac No. 78 in 23rd spot with a time of 2:43.830 (98.575 mph). His co-drivers are Oliver Kuttner of Charlottesville, Va. and James Gue of Athens, Ga. The No. 78 is advertising two Web sites: yououghttoknowthis.com and nycshuttle.com, as well as Venom Synthetic Lubricants.

"That's the quickest we've run all weekend," Ave said. "It should be a good car for the race. We're a bit down on acceleration but the balance is OK. We just don't have enough overall grip, but we're working on it."

Scott Pruett got the pole in the CompUSA car with a 2:37.998 (102.214 mph), which is an automatic track record since this is the Rolex Series' first race on this 4.486-mile road course.
