Team Sahlen achieves 10th place in Sahlen's 6 Hours; Team Sahlen achieved a break through race weekend at Sahlen's 6 Hours at the Glen Event.

For Qualifying, Team Sahlen's Wayne Nonnamaker qualified the #43 in 8th place. This strong grid spot verified the great progress that the team has been making with the Corvettes.

In the race, Wayne showed that the 8th place grid position was no fluke as he continued to hold his 8th place in class throughout the first 1/3 of the race, rising as high as fourth place. A unique steering rack failure caused the #43 to lose pace, that then eventually led to a dnf at the 4 hour mark.

"An unfortunate end to the weekend for #43, but is was so nice to see all the hard work and effort pay off with the fine qualifying run. I can't wait for the 2nd half of the season to start now." - states Joe Nonnamaker

Will Nonnamaker's race worked in reverse fortune. On lap 5, the front sway bar broke. Although repaired at the 2 hour mark, the sway bar broke on the opposite side of the car a hour later, again with Will driving. This 2nd situation was soon rectified under a caution flag, and the #42 was back on its way with Joe Sahlen driving. Turning good consistent laps, saw Joe & Will climb up the standings. Never once during the entire 6 hour event did the #42 Corvette go off course or spin. Then as the race drew to a close, a heated battle started to brew with the 11th placed #68 TRG Porsche. Then just things looked to be getting very interesting, the final full course caution that ended the race flew. This handed 10th place to #42. The Top 10 finish moved the Team Sahlen #42 into 13th in the Team Championship

The weekend was a special one for Joe Sahlen. Not only was the Watkins Glen race Joe's "hometown" race, but Sahlen's was the presenting sponsor of the 6 Hour event.

"What a special weekend, with the 10th place as a big bonus. We had our family and friends in attendance, our Buffalo Flash Soccer Team as Grand Marshals, and all that activities that go along with being the sponsor of the 6 Hours event.

The next event for Team Sahlen will be the EMCO Mid-Ohio ROLEX weekend on June 20th .
