Weaver, Dyson lead The Glen at half-way

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. -- Attrition has been the order of the day this afternoon during the first three hours of the Grand American Road Racing Association's Rolex Sports Car Series 6 Hours of the Glen. Just past the half way point, 15 of the 38 starters were behind the wall, including the pole sitting No. 20 Dyson Racing Ford-powered Riley & Scott of Butch Leitzinger, Elliot Forbes-Robinson, and Rob Dyson, which has been sidelined for the time being with power steering and master cylinder problems that have been leaking fluid all over the floor of the cockpit, making the car's pedals much too slippery to for the team's veteran trio of drivers. Similarly, clogged fuel injectors have impeded the progress of the No. 27 Doran Racing Dallara Judd of Didier Theys, Mauro Baldi, and Freddy Lienhard Jr.

Somehow, the No. 16 Dyson racing Riley & Scott of James Weaver and Chris Dyson has avoided the carnage (despite a minor off course excursion by Dyson) that seems to have affected just about every other SRP car in the field to open up a two lap lead over the second place Rand Racing Nissan Lola of Terry Borcheller, Ralph Kelleners, and Anthony Lazzaro, the leaders in SRP II.

Third overall was the No. 6 Miracle Motorsports Riley & Scott of Vic Rice, John Macaluso, and James Gue, two laps down to the No. 16 Dyson Racing duo. The second Rand Racing Nissan Lola of Niclas Jonsson, Marino Franchitti, and William Rand sat in fourth overall and second in SRPII. While the No. 22 Archangel Motorsport Nissan Lola of Howard Katz, David Sternberg, and Bret Arsenault rounded out the top-five.

Thanks in large part to the high level of attrition, the No. 33 Ferrari 360GT of Bill Auberlen and Cort Wagner Sixth had worked its way up to sixth overall, followed closely by the No. 81 G&W Motorsports Porsche GT3R of Darren Law and Brent Martini and the No. 66 Racer's Group Porsche GT3R of Kevin Buckler and Michael Schrom.

The ninth place Pegasus Racing Porsche Lola of Oliver Kuttner and Julian Calvet was the only other remaining SRP on the track at the halfway point. And the American GT leading Corvette of John Briody and Andrew Kopperl accounted for the final spot in the top-10.

Notably absent from the top-10 is the No. 5 Saleen of Chris Bingham and Rodney Mall which retired at the three hour mark due to gearbox gremlins.
