The McLaren driver led the first stint of the race after starting from pole, but slipped back to fourth as the pitstops shook out.

That meant he had to find a way past James Koundouris, Roger Lago, and Tony Walls in the second stint. The first two were straightforward, Quinn moving into third on Lap 35, before getting by Lago five laps later.

He then set about hunting down Walls, finally catching the Objective McLaren with a lap to go. It ultimately boiled down to a side-by-side moment at Turn 11, Quinn initially aborting his overtaking move when he spotted double-waved yellows, before Walls ran wide and let Quinn through anyway.

The win, Quinn’s second for the weekend, means he will head to the sprint championship finale in New Zealand as the points leader.

Lago and his Lamborghini held on to finish third, ahead of Mercedes driver Craig Baird, who had to charge his way from the back of the Top 10 after taking over from Scott Taylor.

John Martin (Walkinshaw Porsche) and Chris Mies (MPC Audi) did likewise, both moving forward after taking over their respective team-mates Neale Muston and Tony Bates.

Koundouris, who was paired with Marcus Marshall, dropped back to seventh in the Supabarn Audi, with Steve McLaughlan (MPC Audi) and Jono Webb/Grant Denyer (Tekno McLaren) rounding out the Top 10.
