Wilton, CT. Juan Carlos Leroux announced his intentions to compete in the American GT Challenge series today. Leroux, from the Dominican Republic, will join the AGT competing in the number 42 Ford Mustang.
Leroux has been active in racing since 1983. Juan started his career first on motorcycles then advancing to sportscars in the mid 1990's. During his tenure behind the wheel, Leroux has eanred various victories and championships.
Juan earned the SCCA GT1 National Championship in 1999 driving an Irv Hoerr built V6 powered car. In the same year, Leroux was awarded the Jim Fitzgerald Rookie of the Year honor. Most recently Leroux finished third in the Dominican Republic GTS Championship for 2003 and 2002.
Leroux will compete in the AGT during the island events at the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico in 2004. For 2005 Leroux will seek a fuller schedule within the AGT.
The American GT Challenge uses purpose built tube frame chassis cars, power by a V-8 & V-6 engine, with composite bodies, replicating series produced American touring or grand touring cars competing exclusively on Goodyear Racing Tires. For more information visit www.americangt.com.
