Craft-Bamboo Racing will field its first all-Aussie driver line-up in the #99 Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 for the next two GT Asia rounds in Malaysia. The duo will pair together starting next weekend (15-17 August) and the following month (12-14 September), as the 2010 GT4 Asia Cup Champion Daniel Bilski joins compatriot Jonathan Venter at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia for the seventh round of the 2014 GT Asia Series.

Newcomer to the team, Bilski boasts extensive experience in GTs, classic cars and endurance races, getting behind the wheel of several different types and makes of cars. Based in Hong Kong, he is familiar with the world-famous Sepang International Circuit - having raced and won there on numerous occasions - so will no doubt be a formidable force in the up-coming race.

“Joining Craft-Bamboo Racing for the next two GT Asia race weekends is an honour for me and extremely exciting. I have to thank Frank Yu for his support in making this happen and will be doing everything possible to achieve strong results for the team.”

Although Bilski has experience in Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT4s, this will be the forty three-year old’s first outing in the V12 Vantage GT3, but his recent GT3 success leaves him confident and excited at the challenge ahead.

“After winning both the GT4 Asia Cup in 2010 and the Sports Production Class in the 2012 Sepang 12-Hour (MMER) in Aston Martin’s GT4 cars, I can’t wait to take the step up into the marque’s “Hulk” Vantage GT3,” he adds. “It’s a phenomenal car with an incredible racing pedigree, so I can’t wait to drive it. I’ve had some good results recently in GT3 and Cup-spec cars, so I am looking forward to taking that momentum with me to fight for good results.

“I’m also really excited to be co-driving with fellow Australian Jonathan Venter, who is an extremely talented driver with a big future in GT racing. Jonathan showed his tremendous abilities in the #99 in Fuji. I have a bit of catching up to do as Jonathan has a couple of races under his belt and is very quick in the car already.”

This will be the second outing with Craft-Bamboo Racing for the eighteen-year old Venter. After a successful outing at the Fuji Speedway with the team, he has extended his participation in the hope of improving his performance and with an aim of getting on the podium. Venter was paired up with American Kevin Gleason in the #99 at Fuji where the duo made its GT debut battling a 35 car grid to finish both races in the top ten, which saw Venter running up as high as P4 overall during race 2.

“After a great result at my debut round at Fuji in the GT Asia Series, I am approaching Sepang with more confidence and more knowledge of what is required. The track seems challenging and it is the first time I will be driving on it so it will be important to get up to speed quickly in the Craft-Bamboo Racing Aston Martin.

“I have great confidence in my team-mate Daniel Bilski who has a lot of experience at Sepang and I am sure I will be learning a lot from him. I am very excited to be pairing up with him and I believe we will be a strong team.

“It will be another tough weekend similar to Fuji as there is a strong line-up of drivers on the grid. It will be very competitive so I will have to perform my best to get another good result. Despite the challenge, I am very excited to get in the car again and compete against some of the best GT drivers” said Venter.

The GT Asia Series will head to Sepang International Circuit, Malaysia for rounds seven and eight on 15-17 August 2014.

Craft-Bamboo Racing’s campaign in the 2014 GT Asia Series can only be made possible with the continued support of the team sponsors; Gravity Partnership, POAD, Ravenol, Racerlink, Tunewear and Vortex Racewear.
