Archie is set to drive in the 2010 Avon Tyres British GT Championship in a Ferrari GT3 Scuderia with Chad Racing. He will contend the two one-hour races with a yet to be named co-driver on 26th September.
This season has seen Archie progress from single seaters to the Porsche Carrera Cup. A guest appearance in the Le Mans 24 Hours support race inspired him to hasten the pursuit of his career goal of racing in the Le Mans 24 Hours, following in the footsteps of his 1953 race winning grandfather Duncan Hamilton.
Archie Hamilton
"I think the British GT Championship is an ideal next step for me to learn more about endurance racing. I tested with Chad Racing in the old spec car last year and liked the feel so I was really pleased when Piers offered me this drive. I need to thank Delaney and Duncan Hamilton for supporting me and making it happen. I'm very excited about this opportunity and hopefully we can get a good result!"
Piers Masarati, Chad Racing:
"We are really happy to have Archie onboard. He showed last year at Brands when we tested a good understanding of the car and his half year in Carrera cup will have been very productive with Redline. He is in at the deep end at Brands with no testing before the race, however we have an excellent car as we showed throughout the year in British GT, FIA GT3, Belgium GT where we have had poles, a win and podiums. At Snetterton with a win, second place and lap record we showed when driven properly our car is at the sharp end .
"We are close to securing a very solid teammate for him to achieve his and the team's goals at Brands. We have big plans in 2011 and Archie is one of the many drivers we are looking to graduate with us. Watch this Space!"
