VALLELUNGA: MICHELA ON THE PODIUM IN AN INTENSE WEEKEND
The decision to take part in two different championships in the same event seemed, at the eve of Vallelunga's weekend, to prelude to a new deed from Michela Cerruti. The young Italian driver did not betray expectations and came close to the success too.
The commitment in the GT Cup class of the Italian GT Championship showed the most intense emotions for Michela: in race one, in crew with Francesca Linossi at the wheel of the number 2 F430 Ferrari of the team AeffeM-Romeo Ferraris, she has been protagonist of a breathtaking second stint that took her to finish third under the chequered flag. A podium that in the last few laps seemed to turn into a victory with Cerruti third charging on the leader Formilli Fendi, before that a problem to the gear with a few corners to go cost her a position.
More linear was race two instead, whereby Michela finished eighth at the end of a race without particular twists.
In the Superstars Series, Cerruti took to the finish line her Mercedes C63 AMG in both races: on the wet on Saturday she obtained a fifteenth place, which was confirmed on the dry on Sunday too.
Michela Cerruti:
"It has certainly been a challenging weekend but all in all doable, even if I do not hide that at the end of race two of the Superstars I was quite tired physically. GT reserved me higher satisfactions: in race one, I left my earplugs in the Mercedes and I found myself driving the Ferrari without radio communications. I did not know to be fighting for the victory because I struggled to see the table exposed on the pits wall and I was surprised when, arrived in the park fermè, Francesca told me we had to run on the podium.
The season started well: here we are more competitive with respect to the already good performance scored at Misano and I believe we still have a good margin to work on".
The Italian GT Championship will be again on track next 6 June at Magione (Perugia).
