Moncini and Montermini take the title in Monza
Monza, 24 October 2010 -- The champions have been crowned in the Italian GT Championship at the final round of the season, held this past weekend at the Monza circuit. In fact the titles were decided at the end of the first race in which the GT2 class was won by the Ferrari of Andrea Montermini and Emanuele Moncini (Villorba Corse,) which was enough to see them take the title. Race 2 was therefore something of a victory lap for the winners, with an all-Ferrari podium: on the top step was the crew of Lorenzo Bontempelli-Beniamino Caccia (Kessel Racing,) followed by the F430 GT2 of Andrea Montermini and Emanuele Moncini (Villorba Corse) and that of Michele Rugolo-Giuseppe Ciro (AF Corse) second and third respectively.
The general classification confirmed the Maranello marque's dominance, with Andrea Montermini-Emanuele Moncini coming out on top with 147 points followed by the other Vittoria Competizione crew of Andrea Palma and Massimiliano Mugelli on 122 and the AF Corse team's line up of Marco Cioci-Piegiuseppe Perazzini on 117 points.
