IMOLA: MICHELA CERRUTI'S SMILE AFTER A DIFFICULT WEEKEND
The fourth round of the Italian GT Championship turned out to be mean with Michela Cerruti, involved at Imola behind the wheel of the F430 GT CUP Ferrari of team AeffeM-Romeo Ferraris. The driver from Milan set the time of 1'53.971, worth the twelfth position in GT CUP class during the second turn of qualifying; similar performance from her crew-mate Francesca Linossi who ws thirteenth in 1'53.618.
In race one, Michela has been involved in the second stint but after a few laps, when she was holding the seventh position, a problem to one of the ABS sensors forced her to the retirement.
A few minutes before the start of race two her determination was transparent and all her fighting spirit was put on track soon afterwards, but it was slowed down a bit by an exit on the grass to avoid an opponent that had spun; Francesca Linossi managed to cross the finish line in tenth position and obtain a useful points for the classification in the second stint.
Michela Cerruti:
"Thigs did not go exactly as I had wished for in terms of results: in
Superstars Series and Italian GT Championship I had not seen the
chequered flag for six races and I hoped things could have turned around
here. I'd rather see the glass half full anyway; despite some technical
problems we managed to arrive at the end and we got a little point that
gives us some hope for the future".
The Italian GT Championship will be on track next 25 July at Mugello.
