Sebring BMW Hour 4 Report

PROTOTYPE TECHNOLOGY GROUP BMW M3 1999 SUPERFLO 12 HOURS AT SEBRING, GT CLASS after four hours, March 20

After four hours of the 12 Hours at Sebring endurance race, the Prototype Technology Group (PTG) BMW M3 cars are first and second in the GT class. The M3s have relinquished the class lead during pit stops, but have regained the lead each time. Both cars have completed 82 laps. They are currently 21st (#7) and 22nd (#10) overall.

The Yokohama/Flextronics International/Level One-sponsored cars are driven by Boris Said, Hans Stuck and Peter Cunningham (#10) and by Mark Simo, Brian Cunningham and Johannes van Overbeek (#7).

TOM MILNER, PTG team owner:

"Everything is going fine. The lead changes every hour, but we're still in there."

SCOTT DONIGER, M Brand Manager, BMW of North America, Inc.:

"The race is settling in well for BMW.  The PTG M3s are one-two, but
the Alex Job Porsches are right on their heels.  It looks as though it's
going to be a dogfight.  The drivers are bearing down and staying out
of trouble and the team is prepared.  Also great for BMW in its first
outing, the two Le Mans Roadsters are one-two.  But it's a long race
and Dyson's car is in third place.  We'll see how it all works out."

BORIS SAID, #10 PTG BMW M3 starting driver:

"Right now, things are going according to plan. We had a bit of a brake problem, but we're okay. We're almost one-third of the way and it looks pretty good. Hopefully, we'll be here at the end. We're going to run really hard at the end."

MARK SIMO, #7 PTG BMW M3 starting driver:

"Things are unusually smooth.  Everyone has a 12-hour mindset, so no
one's getting crazy.  Everyone is clean, consistent and polite, the way I
hoped they would be.  For a 12-hour run, it's surprisingly smooth."
