SRO Motorsport Group present GT4 racing structure for 2013

Events from five national championships will count toward the new GT4 trophy.

SRO Motorsport Group is proud to announce plans for new GT4 series’ in 2013. Next year a new GT4 trophy will re-launch this popular class of racing after a brief hiatus this season.

Five race events from various national championships will be selected to count towards the trophy, using the SRO technical and sporting regulations. The teams and drivers will score points for separate series titles. The best 4 results will count to obtain the 2013 GT4 Trophy team and drivers titles. There will also be an additional points table for the bronze categorised drivers.

The races confirmed and counting towards the 2013 GT4 Trophy are:

Silverstone – 19th May (with British GT)
Spa - 27th July (supporting the Spa 24hrs)
Anderstorp - 17th August (with Swedish GT)
Zandvoort - 13th October (with Dutch GT)
Plus one additional race to be announced in the New Year.

In addition to the newly created GT4 Trophy there will also continue to be healthy and stable series’ in a variety of territories during 2013. These include the Netherlands, where the GT4’s will continue for a 5th season.

Joining these will be a new franchise next year with a Swedish GT4 series being agreed between SRO and the Leif Lindstrom promoter in Sweden. The signing of the contract will take place at the Autosport International show on Thursday 10th January, 2013.

Several new models are set to race next season in the GT4 series with the Toyota 86GT, the Mazda MX5 (awaiting final 2013 full homologation) and the Hyundai Genesis Coupé (evo on 2013 MY) all likely to be seen on the grids for next season.

In addition to today’s GT4 announcements, SRO Motorsport Group revealed today a technical agreement with the VLN/ADAC for the use of GT4 in the SP10 category with full technical ruling and Balance of Performance that follows the 2013 SRO GT4 regulations.

SRO Motorsport Group also confirm that Avon Tyres will be the SRO tyre partner in GT4 throughout the 2014 season. The 2013 Balance of Performance tests will be held at Zandvoort on 6-8 March. Performances will be brought back to 2010 level in order to sustain reliability and reduce technical costs, particularly the development, spare parts and testing expenses.

A vibrant and dynamic logo is unveiled for the first time to celebrate the re-generation of GT4. The official logo has been designed to reflect the positive future of the GT4 concept and to celebrate the inclusiveness of the category for teams and drivers alike.
