Andy Meyrick has joined the Gulf Racing UK team for the 2013 Blancpain Endurance Series. The former Aston Martin Racing factory driver will be racing a McLaren MP4-12C GT3 in Gulf Oil International’s iconic racing colours alongside team co-owner Mike Wainwright.
Gulf Racing UK will once again be entering two McLaren cars; one in the Pro and another in the Pro-Am category of the highly successful endurance series. In the team’s Pro car will be double Le Mans Series GT Champion Rob Bell, fellow McLaren GT factory driver Adam Carroll and Belgian racer Nico Verdonck.
Cheshire-based Andy, 27, drove for Gulf Racing UK at the iconic Belgian 24-hour event last year where six hours of heavy rain and treacherous track conditions proved to be one of the most challenging races of the season. Andy shall be the Pro-driver in the team’s Pro-Am category entry 12C GT3 alongside Swiss-based British driver, Mike Wainwright.
“I really am delighted to be joining Gulf Racing UK for 2013,” said Meyrick. “I drove for the team in the Spa 24 Hours last year and am looking forward to competing with them for a complete season. The Blancpain series is the most competitive GT championship in Europe, with an extremely strong grid. I am also excited to be working closely with McLaren, who I hear have made some revisions to the car over the winter, and with my Gulf Racing UK team mates Mike, Rob, Adam and Nico.”
