Unlucky weekend for Filip Salaquarda in Zandvoort (NED) during the third rounds of the Blancpain Sprint Series 2014.

The Czech driver - in the occasion sided by co-equiper Alessandro Balzan - has unfortunately been forced to the retirement in an eventful qualifying race, whereby rain shuffled the cards starting from lap twelve, after a very good sixth time in qualifying.

When only a few laps were to go Salaquarda was battling the podium out but a sudden aquaplaning caused an off to his Ferrari that hit a car behind. The damage reported to the chassis of the car could not be fixed in time ahead of the Main Race and therefore the lineup could not make it to the track again.

Filip Salaquarda: "Zandvoort's weekend left us with a bitter taste in our mouth: we saw a podium vanish and we did not have any chance of running the main race. Track conditions were very difficult under the rain and I did not have any chance to keep the car under control in the aquaplaning. The impact with Rosina's Lamborghini was not too violent but it happened with a bad angle that heavily damaged the chassis. Now I am totally focused on the 24 Hours of Spa, one of the most challenging races on a circuit that has always fascinated me".

The Blancpain Spint Series will be back on track next 22 August at the Slovakia Ring.
