Mad-Croc Racing scores top 5 finish in Brno in race 1 of the third round of the FIA GT1 World Championship

BRNO -- CZECH REPUBLIC. The third round of the FIA GT1 World Championship takes places this weekend at the challenging Brno Automotodrom in the Czech Republic. Xavier Maassen and Mike Hezemans finished as high as fifth in the first FIA GT1 World Championship race of the weekend, while Pertti Kuismanen and Mika Salo ended up in 19th position. In FIA GT3, the Mad Croc Racing Ford GT3 of Christoffer Nygaard and Mikko Eskelinen came home in a good 12th, after a race in difficult weather conditions.

The qualifying session of the GT1 World Championship was a very good one for the Mad Croc Racing Team. Xavier Maassen and Mike Hezemans set 5th position, the best qualifying result so far for a Mad Croc Racing Corvette.

Xavier Maassen (#11 Mad Croc Racing Corvette): "This was a very good result with our car. We're on the limit of what's possible with the Corvette C6.R and our car was by far the best Corvette, so we're satisfied. The balance and the set-up of the car are very good and that should allow us to score good points for the championship. I'm also very happy to drive along Mike Hezemans who won several FIA GT races in the past. He has built up a huge experience and it's good to learn form him."

Mika Salo was also very quick in the first part of the qualifying session, while Pertti set 16th qualifying time in the second part of the session in the #12 Mad Croc Racing Corvette.

Saturday's race saw a stunning performance of the Dutch drivers.

Mike Hezemans: (#11 Mad Croc Racing Corvette): "I can only say what Xavier already told. This is the maximum performance of the Corvette. We're carrying too much weight in the car and fifth position is a good result. Tomorrow, we'll try to fight for the podium."

Patrick Selleslagh (team manager of the #12 Mad Croc Racing Corvette): "Pertti didn't do enough laps in the dry in Friday's free practice and that's why he lost some time in the opening stages of this race. Mika's lap times in the second part of the race were good and will try to perform even better in tomorrow's race. Mika is a super driver to work with and thanks to him we also found an even better set up for the Corvette."
