DRM Racing Acquires Saleen S7R To Compete in FIA GT Championship

DRM Racing, one of the most exciting and innovative racing teams launched in the last decade, has taken its next step.

Currently competing in the Cup Class of the British GT Championship, DRM Racing have this week purchased a Saleen S7R, which will enter into the final three races of the FIA GT Championship in China, Dubai and Bahrain. DRM Racing lead driver, Adam Wilcox, will drive the car.

Team owner, David Murray purchased the Saleen, which previously won two Spanish GT Championship titles, with the intention of winning the 2005 FIA GT Championship. The Saleen S7R has undergone modifications to assimilate with the Auto Club L'Ouest specifications for Le Mans. It will be branded in the distinctive team livery of Yellow and Black prior to the first race.

Key elements of Saleen S7R are the all-aluminium V8, 2V cam-in-block engine and maximum RPM of 7000. The S7R is designed to compete with the fastest, quickest, and most successful GT cars in the world. It is capable of reaching speeds of well over 200mph and with its advanced wind tunnel developed aerodynamic curves it will be one of the most eye-catching cars on the grid.

Adam Wilcox, who is no stranger to the 600bhp Saleen and its awesome acceleration of 0-60 in under 4 seconds, said, "After driving this exhilarating vehicle in Japan, I feel very privileged to have been given the opportunity to take the DRM brand out of Great Britain and to be able to compete overseas again via the FIA series. DRM has it's sights set on podium positions for the final three FIA GT Championship races in 2004."

David Murray, DRM's team owner commented, "Winning the 2005 FIA GT Championship is our key goal next year. The Saleen will help us achieve this objective and further develop the success of DRM Racing as Britain's most successful multi-dimensional team."
