The Victory, The Pole Position, The Fastest Lap: Matteo Bobbi Hits The Jackpot in Dubai

Matteo Bobbi's adventure in Dubai for the second last round of the FIA GT championship started and ended perfectly. Matteo Bobbi conquered the 1st place on the podium, the pole position and the fastest lap at this heart throbbing event. Matteo couldn't have asked for more.

At the qualifications on Thursday, Matteo Bobbi claimed his second pole position of the season and managed to reduce his time during the second session when the track temperature and the air temperature were even higher. Scuderia Italia and Matteo found the perfect set up both with old and new tyres and the results prove this. The fast Maserati wasn't even able to overtake Bobbi.

With the track temperatures rising well above 70 in the cockpit today, Matteo kept his concentration throughout the whole race and with the help of his cooling tracksuit, was able to overcome these intense weather conditions. Matteo immediately took charge at this round and no one was able to keep up with him; except for the Maserati. The Maseratis was in the lead 5 minutes before the chequered flag but Matteo was able to overtake them and snatched the win by 42 seconds.

Matteo Bobbi

"I have to be honest, it wasn't easy. The extreme heat was a really big issue for me and for everyone. The cooling tracksuit gave me temporary relief so luckily I was in good shape. Had I not been, I may not have survived! I'm so happy about this victory. It's my second of the season .Everything seemed to fall right into place this week in Dubai. Right from the start the Maserati wanted to take our leadership but both Gardel and I keep a great rhythm throughout the race. The fastest time that I set was during the 48th lap. I need to thank everyone twice as much for this round. I need to thank Scuderia Italia for their excellent work. Gardel for being fast in the last three days and Michelin for giving us tires that allowed us to keep up the pace. I love the taste of victory and hope to do just as well in China.
