Two Porsches for Basseng / Jirik and Schmickler / Thomas

The Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium based Muhlner Motorsport Team is entered in the final round of the FIA European GT3 Championship in Dubai (UAE) with two Porsche 911 GT3 Cup S.

The England based Canadian Mark Thomas will be sharing the number 39 Porsche GT3 Cup S with the German Frank Schmickler, who will be contesting the 2009 ADAC GT Masters, the German version of the FIA GT3 series, for Muhlner Motorsport.

"It's great that I'm getting a chance to drive my 2009 car already and as I know the Dubai circuit, I think we should be competitive there" said a happy Frank Schmickler of his debut in the FIA European GT3 championship.

Sharing the number 40 Porsche with the Czech Jaramir Jirik, Marc Basseng (Germany) will be running in his fourth event in the 2008 season with Muhlner Motorsport. After two rounds of the ADAC GT Masters and the GT3 win at the Spa 24hrs (sharing with Mark Thomas, Heinz-Josef Bermes and Jean-Francois Hemroulle) he is hopeful of another good result.

"We've been near the front in every race I've done this year with Muhlner, we've had 3 podiums, two of which were wins. It would be good to round off the 2008 season with top results again in the two races here in Dubai" said a hopeful Marc Basseng.

The Muhlner Motorsport Team will be going all out to win the Porsche marques title at the season finale in Dubai. "Unfortunately we failed to point twice -- at Brunn we broke a driveshaft and at Nogaro our guest driver, Jean-Francois Hemroulle, had an accident, otherwise mark Thomas would be leading the points comfortably. As it is, Jara is second and Mark 3rd but we will continue to go for it as long as there is still a chance" explained Bernhard Muhlner.
