This weekend at the Misano World Circuit in Italy, the opening race of the Blancpain Sprint Series takes place with 26-year old Mirko Bortolotti driving for the Grasser Racing Team. In his second year in the prestigious GT series, the Trentino-born driver will contest the full program of both sprint and endurance races…

"Last year we scored two podiums in Misano“, says Bortolotti, "and of course it would be great to continue on this high level.“

After extending his contract with Lamborghini, Bortolotti remains behind the wheel of the Huracán GT3 with the number 63 and and continues the successful partnership with the Austrian Grasser Racing Team: "I feel very comfortable and happy in this team and I will continue to give my best for Gottfried Grasser and his squad. My team mates in the Blancpain Endurance Series will be Jeroen Bleekemolen and Rolf Ineichen, and in the Blancpain Sprint Series I will be racing alongside newcomer Nicolas Pohler.“

The 18-year old German switches from the FIA Formula Three Series to the GT Series. Therefore, a new role awaits Bortolotti: "Nicolas has done a lot of testing, but the change to the much heavier sports car and the new environment of GT racing is a massive challenge for any new driver. Therefore, I will have the additional task of supporting him."

Despite the tough competition in the GT racing series full of seasoned professionals, Bortolotti remains confident that his Huracán GT3 will compete at the top of the field: "We have made a lot of positive experiences at the pre-season tests and although I had to miss the tests at the Circuit Paul Ricard due to illness, we are very well-prepared. The memories of the two podium finishes that we had here in Misano during our guest start last year give us a lot of confidence as well. We had a very strong year in 2015, so of course our goal is obvious: We want to continue on the path of success!"
