Corvette rules the roost in Qualifying

The Mad-Croc Corvette No.11 of Xavier Maassen and Jos Menten topped the class in Qualifying at Spa-Francorchamps.

Second was the All-Inkl.com Lamborghini No.38 of Nicky Pastorelli and Dominik Schwager while the No.25 Reiter Lamborghini of Ricardo Zonta and Frank Kechele was third.

Spa Qualifying: What the drivers say ...

The fastest car in yesterday's Pre-Qualifying proved to be the fastest car when it mattered. Xavier Maassen and Jos Menten steered the Mad-Croc Racing Corvette to pole position in Qualifying for Round 5 of the 2010 FIA GT1 World Championship.

Maassen easily qualified in Q1, finishing in second place to hand over to Menten in Q2, who also set the second fastest session time to progress to the final 8.

Maasen then set a time of 2m17.605 to claim the first pole position for himself, Jos Menten and Mad-Croc Racing.

The All-Inkl.com Muennich Motorsport Lamborghini Murcielago of Nicky Pastorelli and Dominik Schwager will line up alongside the leading Corvette in this afternoon's Qualifying Race, with the Reiter Lamborghini of Ricardo and Frank Kechele starting from third.

Here's what the driver's had to say about Qualifying ...

Xavier Maassen, Mad-Croc No.11 - P1

"We've been knocking on the door for some time and in the races we've been competitive and doing a good job, but every time we didn't seem to get the result that we wanted. I think that every race we had a chance of a podium but we never seemed to get it.

"In Paul Ricard it went a bit better but then we were touched by (Romain) Grosjean and we had to start from P20 again, so I'm really delighted, it's like a relief now that we've finally got a good result and a pole position, especially here at a track that is brilliant. It is our home track and if you've got a good car then Spa is just incredible."

Nicky Pastorelli, All-Inkl Lamborghini No.38 - P2

"I'm really happy, we've also been quite quick at the previous races but something always went wrong so now finaly we get it all going, hopefully we will do the same in the race. We'll see this afternoon and tomorrow. But for now its good.

"We came here with zero kms on this track with this car so we didn't really know what to expect, especially after yesterday with the rain. The team made a couple of changes during the qualifying, so the car was really good to drive in Q3."

Dominik Schwager, All-Inkl Lamborghini No.38 - P2

"We arrived in Abu Dhabi and the mechanics just put the cars together and we just went racing. So every race we do, the car gets better, the set-up gets better, and also the team work gets better. There is still room to improve. We will see how this afternoon goes, I don't expect any crazy things. So far there has been tough battling, we all know the points that we get tomorrow."

Ricardo Zonta, Reiter Lamborghini No.25 - P3

"In Paul Ricard we did a good job, but the race was very exciting. The car is improving a lot. This weekend was difficult as I didn't do many laps when the track was dry, but I'm very happy."

Frank Kechele, Reiter Lamborghini No.25 - P3

"I didn't expect it to be so good as we didn't have any dry laps, I've never driven in a GT1 here, so to nail Eau Rouge and Blanchimont in two laps wasn't that easy but obviously it worked and there is still something to come for the race."
